"It was as if he was the last to know" - Ben Lyttleton on the Moyes sacking in Spain

David Moyes' reign in charge of Real Sociedad lasted just under a year as the Scottish manager was sacked a Real Sociedad manager yesterday after a poor start to the season.

A 2-0 loss to Las Palmas was the final straw for the Sociedad owners as the Basque side lie in 16th place. Only goal difference separates the side from the relegation zone.

Ben Lyttleton spoke to Nathan Murphy on Off the Ball's Football Show last night about Moyes' departure from San Sebastian. For the Scottish manager, it wasn't a surprise.

"His departure was similar to what happened at Manchester United. It was as if he was the last to know". The team only won two of their first 11 league games.

Lyttleton thinks Moyes would be "well suited" to a team in the bottom half of the Premier League. He added it would be "very, very difficult" to get a job with another top four club.

"He found it difficult to integrate his most creative players" according to Lyttleton. Moyes failed to learn the Spanish language and lived in a hotel in his time with Sociedad.

Eusebio Sacristan, the former Barcelona B manager has been confirmed as Moyes' replacement.
