'It's still Japan's to lose but Australia would be a very close second'

The race for the AFC Asian Cup is just taking place. With the group stages coming to an end, Australia, South Korea, Japan and Iran have emerged as the early favourites.

Group A closes with Australia and South Korea going toe to toe. Both sides are already through to the knockout stages with the winner of the match facing either Saudi Arabia or Uzbekistan in the last-8. For the team that finishes second in the group, a head-to-head against an in-form China awaits.

Uli Stielike's South Korea have stuttered so far with 1-0 wins over Oman and Kuwait, while a vibrant Australia put four goals past both those sides.

To preview the group game tomorrow between the Taeguk Warrior and Tim Cahill and co, I was joined by Jae-Hyeok Lee of The Tavern of the Taeguk Warriors podcast who was one of the contributors on Team 33 during the 2014 World Cup.

We also talked about South Korea's form and Jae also runs the rule over the early favourites for the Asian Cup like the Socceroos and Japan as the big sides eye the latter stages.
