A recognisable voice in the commentary gantry, Jackie Fullerton won't be reporting on Northern Ireland in France after their successful qualifying campaign.
The commentator has been the voice of Northern Ireland matches for 37 years, but will no longer be involved in the coverage after it was announced by the BBC that commentator Joel Taggart will be the man on the mic for the game against Latvia as Michael O'Neill's side warm up for Euro 2016/
Speaking to The Belfast Telegraph, Fullerton said "it's the right time for a younger man to take up the reins [...] I have to move on, the BBC have to move on. I've loved commentating on the big Northern Ireland games, loved every minute of it, even loved the pressure associated with it, but I'm not getting any younger".
By the time Northern Ireland head to France, Fullerton will be 73-years-old, but he said that he will continue to do "bits and pieces" for the BBC before he decides to finally call it a day.
He began his career commentating for UTV in 1978, and eventually moved to the BBC where he commentated on some very famous moments for the game in Northern Ireland, many of which involved David Healy.
He did say, however, that he will definitely head over to watch his side in action, but "the plan is to get over to France, sit back, relax and see Northern Ireland compete out there".
