Jagielka: Everton will raise their game for Coleman

Everton captain Phil Jagielka says the Everton players will rally behind Republic of Ireland captain Seamus Coleman and up their performances in his absence.

The Toffees head to Anfield for the Merseyside derby and haven't won at the home of their nearest rivals since 1999. They then head to Old Trafford a couple of days later.

Speaking to Everton's official website, Jagielka said: "There are two massive games coming up and that’s one thing Seamus will want us to do, to play well and get some good results, we’ll all be thinking about him and come Saturday and Tuesday, I’m sure he’ll have the TV on and be cheering us on.

"There’ll be no incentive needed but with the circumstances over the last few days, that might add a bit of a motivational edge on our behalf. We want to go out there and play well and it will be nice if we can all get to speak to Seamus beforehand."

Everton have also set up an address for fans to send messages to Coleman while he recovers from his injury.

The Irish defender successfully underwent surgery and is expected to be out until early 2018. FIFA are set to compensate Everton while he is out of action.
