Jan Molby tells Kevin Kilbane what Ireland can expect from Denmark

Jan Molby will be keeping a keen eye on Ireland vs Denmark as the World Cup playoff first leg in Copenhagen closes in.

The former Liverpool and Denmark midfielder met up with our own Kevin Kilbane recently and he shared his perspectives on the game and what Ireland can expect from the Danes.

Much like the perception in Ireland that we got the best possible playoff draw, the feeling is mutual for Molby.

"I think we're reasonably happy as probably were Ireland, although I would have probably preferred Greece," he said.

"I'm relatively happy but it's very much 50:50."

He also feels that Ireland find it easier playing away from home based on the performances in the World Cup qualifying group so far.

But stylistically, he feels that Denmark will also be direct to an extent, similarly to the Boys in Green, and that has played into the hands of their leading player Christian Eriksen.

"We're now playing to our strengths with a relatively big, physical team. We play direct and when we play direct a lot of the second balls fall in the area of Christian Eriksen, who's now become what we always thought he was going to be, our main player but it's taken a lot of time for him to come through," said Molby.

"We've now found our own identity. It is a little bit direct but it works and the last few games, obviously the Poland game in Copenhagen was the highlight when we beat them 4-0 but we now look like a good team. We've got good names. There will be plenty of names that people will know but we also look a good team."

Highlighting the likes of Celta Vigo winger Pione Sisto, Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen and even Nicklas Bendtner, Molby feels Denmark have two or three players beyond Eriksen that can add that "extra bit of class".
