For a club trying to engineer survival in this season's Premier League, Swansea City have gone for a new manager with no experience of English football.
Francesco Guidolin has plenty of top level experience in Italy but what do we know about his credentials as he replaces Garry Monk with the Swans right in the relegation scrap?
A nomadic career
Since starting his management career in the late 1980s, the 60-year-old has managed just over a dozen clubs.
Incredibly he has also had four separate spells at Palermo, where the club's volatile president Maurizio Zamparini has sacked him, then re-hired him and then thought better of that on numerous occasions.
While he is far from the only Palermo manager to have endured such problems at the hands of Zamparini, he was first left of his own accord in June 2005 after about 18 months of success and a promotion to Serie A.
He would then be reappointed in June 2006, only to be sacked by April of the following year.
And Zamparini even brought back him once more in the 2007-08 season before the inevitable happened once more.
Successes
He has enjoyed most stability and success with Serie A side Udinese recently, but his first prominent impact came while in charge of Vicenza, who he led to their first ever Coppa Italia trophy in 1997 by beating Napoli on aggregate in the final.
The following season, a defeat to Chelsea ended their run in the Cup Winners Cup at the semi-final stage which was an unprecedented feat for a club of their size.
But his best spell was at Udinese who he led to fourth, third and fifth in the 2010-11, 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons, missing out on the 2011-12 Champions League group stages after a playoff round defeat to a vulnerable Arsenal side which had just lost Samir Nasri to Manchester City and Cesc Fabregas to Barcelona.
The following season it was a penalty shootout loss to Portuguese side Braga which again thwarted them at the playoff stage.
Life abroad
Most of his career has taken place in Italy, but he did have a brief spell at French top flight side Monaco in 2005-06.
It was a disappointing campaign as the club from the principality trailed home in 10th.
While he has no coaching experience in England, he did have an advisory role at Watford, which is a club co-owned by Udinese's Pozzo family owners who also have a stake in Spanish side Granada, where he also served in a similar position during the 2014-15 season.
Not of that will excite Swansea fans or Premier League watchers but he has been credited with some of the early development of current Arsenal and Chile star Alexis Sanchez who was at Udinese between 2008 and 2011 where he first got a true taste of European football and made a mark on the goal charts in Guidolin's first full campaign in charge.
But development of course will not be his main task for now with Swansea facing a fight to stay in the Premier League.
