'There's no goals, no action, no fans and no atmosphere'

Chris Kamara always seems to be in brilliant form on the TV and that translated perfectly on Off The Ball tonight as the Sky Sports personality shared hilarious anecdote after anecdote from his playing and punditry career.

And he was not alone at our Drogheda Roadshow, forming a three-man panel with former England and Manchester United defender Viv Anderson and ex-Ireland midfielder Keith Andrews.

Listen back via the podcast:

Anderson is among a select group of players including Roy Keane who know what it is like to play for two managerial legends: Alex Ferguson and Brian Clough.

Naturally, he was asked which one he thought was better.

"For me personally, it was Cloughie," replied the former Nottingham Forest defender, before explaining his choice.

Another manager who we learned more about was West Ham's Sam Allardyce, who was praised by his former Blackburn midfielder Andrews.

"I think the best I've had is probably Sam Allardyce. He doesn't tend to get involved [in training] except for the odd rant here or there. But in terms of the man management, he's the best I've had. He made it a fun place to be."

Meanwhile, Kammy put Soccer Saturday into perspective.

"Everybody thinks [host Jeff Stelling] is a genius. But think about it...there's no goals, no action, no fans and no atmosphere. For Jeff, it's just like watching Hartlepool," he said to gales of laughter from the crowd, before following that up with a joke about Phil Thompson in a gruff Scottish accent.

"Remember the late, great Bill Shankly when he was asked about Phil Thompson? He went 'Phil Thompson, he's the only fella who could walk into a brick wall with a hard on and break his bloody nose.'"

He also had plenty of stories about funny on-pitch incidents with Sky colleague Paul Merson and joke after joke at Matt Le Tissier's expense, as well as an Eric Cantona training ground tale from Leeds.

Ex-Middlesbrough assistant Anderson also took us through the story of Paul Gascoigne "borrowing" the team bus which eventually cost a fair chunk of cash in damage.

The lads were joined by our first guest of the night, Graeme Souness, to preview this Sunday's match between Manchester United and Liverpool - a game that is live on Off The Ball.

But there was also time for Kamara to give his take on the current situation at former club Leeds, while they all picked kits they hated playing in.
