Kilbane on Guardiola/Henry comparison: "It's like chalk and cheese"

Thierry Henry recently admitted his interest in becoming the Arsenal manger at some point in the future.

The former hero from the red part of North London has been linked with the role recently given the poor form of Arsene Wenger's side.

The Gunners looked rudderless and leaderless after they were completely out-played by Manchester City at the weekend in the League Cup final and look likely to miss out in the race for a top four spot in the Premier League this season.

Former Barcelona President Juan Laporta recently suggested that Henry should be given a chance to manage Arsenal - citing his own promotion of Pep Guardiola to the top job at the Nou Camp.

However, speaking to Friday's OTB AM, Kevin Kilbane wasn't too keen on the idea, saying: "It's hardly a like-for-like comparison. Thierry Henry has had absolutely no credible job at the moment or no coaching. He's worked with the Belgium squad for a short while. He was in Arsenal's academy for a very short while as well before he left - I think he was working with the under-14s at one stage so yeah - you can't even compare them. It's like chalk and cheese.

"It's something I would often stress when we talk about people looking to take jobs and get a step on the ladder - you have to take your own individual side and whatever level that is - you need to take a team for a year, at the very least.

"I'm talking about under 16s/17s/18s - whatever that would be, you need that 1-11, that 1-18 - you need to take a side. Now, he's got an assistant coaching job but what he does within the realms of that coaching job - I'm not exactly sure but I doubt very much that with Roberto Martinez and the Belgium side - I doubt very much he's on the coaching field, taking the 1-11 on a regular basis," he added.
