Lambert confident Villa can bounce back

Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert is backing his side to put to an end this weekend their run of five successive Premier League defeats.

Lambert’s men sit in 15th place but despite their recent struggles, especially up front, the Villa boss is bullish about their chances this weekend.

He told Sky Sports News the team has a point to prove following Monday night's loss to QPR.

“They will come out of the traps on Sunday and I know we are going to be alright in that department,” he said.

Assistant manager Roy Keane described Harry Redknapp’s management style as “too cosy” in his recent controversial book The Second Half but it was the QPR boss who had the last laugh on Monday night.

Despite being favourites heading into the fixture, Villa slumped to a fifth defeat of the league season thanks to an impressive Charlie Austin brace.

They take on Tottenham at Villa Park on Sunday.
