This weekend's Premier League action was littered with shocking defending.
From Arsenal's high line which came at a cost to John Stones lack of judgement in Everton's loss to Swansea, that is only a taster if you also ignore some of Manchester City's defending against West Ham.
Liverpool and Norwich however took the biscuit in a nine-goal thriller at Carrow Road.
The Merseyside club might have edged that one in a dramatic finish but like many people, ex-Ireland and Chelsea defender Paddy Mulligan was appalled by the work at the back - and like many people - not for the first time.
"Did you ever see anything like it in all your life - from both teams defensively? Sakho ... he was like a demented octopus trying to get to a ball. It was quite incredible the lack of defensive quality that I've seen for a few years at Liverpool," said Paddy.
"This hasn't just happened. This was under Brendan Rodgers as well. They conceded 51 goals the year they could have won a league title. So you can't absolve yourself of any blame there, Brendan, I'm afraid. But the fourth goal for Norwich ... Can, Caulker and Sakho were all there to clear that ball and none of them did it and they're looking at each other. Again, indecisiveness. Just like Arsenal. Nobody talking to each other. It was actually embarrassing."
