'These are tough times' | Klopp addresses Liverpool form after Leicester loss

Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp has said these are 'tough times' for his side after their 3-1 loss to Leicester City in the Premier League on Saturday.

His side took the lead in the game at the King Power Stadium through a Mo Salah goal after a lovely assist from Robert Firmino.

James Maddison, Jamie Vardy and Harvey Barnes then all scored for the Foxes in a seven-minute spell in the second half that shocked the champions.

With the result, Leicester go second in the table while Liverpool are fourth but could be seventh by Monday evening.

Speaking to BT Sport at full-time Klopp said he felt that Maddison's goal, which was eventually awarded after a VAR check for possible offside, was key to how the game panned out.

“We conceded a goal that was a tough one to take. It was a turning point.

"I saw it now, a couple of times. The moment when VAR stopped the situation, he didn’t even touch the ball. So that’s really hard.

"For me it looks a clear offside, and that’s the moment it should be yes or no."

It was another game Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson will want to forget after he gifted Jamie Vardy their second goal.

The Brazilian came and missed Youri Tielemans’ long pass before Vardy ran the ball in, in what will be one of this season's easiest goals.

Klopp, similar to last weekend after their defeat to Manchester City, refused to blame his number one and throw him under the bus.

He seemed more concerned about Liverpool's positioning for the final goal they conceded.

"The second goal is a misunderstanding. I said before we need to get used to each other, and we were used to each other until when the goal happened, it was a really good football game.

"They were one position ahead of us, maybe more now, but on the pitch that was not obvious, we were the clear dominant side.

"We played football, we did pretty much everything, scored a really nice goal.

"The game was really good, but then you concede these two goals.

"The third goal was something I don’t like, because we were too open and I told the boys that is not OK. But it is the situation we are in."

Liverpool must now turn their attention to the Champions League where they face RB Leipzig on Tuesday evening.

Many Liverpool fans will be wishing this season would come to an early end, although stranger things have happened than them going on an unlikely run in Europe.

Klopp acknowledged the frustrations that surround his side at the moment.

"Tough times. You saw we tried everything, it is not that we did not try. We were confident and played a super game.

"The turning point was the first goal. But that’s a point we take of criticism, that it changed too much with this one goal.

"We didn’t react well, I take that. But around that we played top football against a really strong side. In the end they finished the game and deserved the three points, but we have to deal with our observations.”
