Mackay and Moody apologise to Cardiff owner Tan

Former Cardiff City manager Malky Mackay and the club’s former head of recruitment Iain Moody have apologised “without reservation” to club owner Vincent Tan over incidents surrounding their departure from the club. Mackay has also withdrawn legal proceedings against the club, as he reached a settlement with his former employers.

Mackay was sacked following a 3-0 defeat to Southampton on St. Stephen’s Day and was replaced by current manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The sacking appeared to have little positive effect on the fate of the Welsh club as they were relegated under the new boss.

Moody was sacked in December with the club alleging he had overspent on player transfers during the summer by £15 million. Moody has always denied the claim.

Mackay said in a statement: "If I have caused any offence to anyone during this time, especially to Vincent Tan, then I apologise without reservation."

Moody offered a similar public apology, saying: "I have today reached a final settlement agreement with Cardiff City Football Club and am very pleased that all parties will now be able to make a clean break and move on.

"My two and a half years at the club were among the most enjoyable and stimulating of my career and I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr Tan and the club's board for the support they showed me during that time."
