Martin O'Neill calls up two players as Ireland injury worries mount

Martin O'Neill has called up goalkeeper Ian Lawlor and striker Adam Rooney to the Ireland squad as injuries mount ahead of the upcoming 2018 World Cup qualifiers.

The Boys in Green face Georgia on October 6th and Moldova three days later as they look to build on the point gained in the opening qualifier in Serbia in September.

But injuries are beginning to make their presence felt with Marc Wilson, Anthony Pilkington, Kevin Doyle and Stephen Quinn ruled out.

There are also doubts about midfield trio James McCarthy, Harry Arter and Aiden McGeady, with the latter duo having delayed their flights to Dublin in order to undergo further treatment with their clubs.

Dubliner Lawlor (21) is a product of the Manchester City academy and had loan spells at Barnet and Bury last season.

He has already been capped at under-19 and under-21 level.

Fellow Dubliner Rooney (28) has scored almost 50 league goals for Aberdeen since 2013 but has not been capped at senior level for Ireland.
