Lionel Messi's appeal against allegations of tax evasion has been dismissed by a Spanish court meaning that he will now have to stand trial.
The Barcelona forward and his father are accused of defrauding authorities of €4.1 million in tax revenues between 2006 and 2009.
The income in question relates to Messi's image rights and it is alleged that the Argentine superstar and his father used companies in Belize and Uruguay to sell those rights, thereby avoiding Spanish tax.
