'I doubt he would take it right now' | Pat Nevin on Moyes & Man United

Following West Ham's victory over Liverpool on Sunday, manager David Moyes has been receiving heaps of praise for his team's results.

Speaking on OTB Sports, Former Everton player Pat Nevin believes the Scottish man would consider sticking with his role at the Hammers over a return to Old Trafford.

With Ole Gunnar Solskjaer constantly under scrutiny for his side's displays this campaign, many people are debating who would be the best fit to take over from the Norwegian.

"There is no obvious choice," said Nevin.

"They’ve had some of the best managers in the business such as Mourinho and it didn’t work. Other managers are not going there because they are where they want to be right now. That’s where the problem is."

Having replaced Sir Alex Ferguson in 2013, Moyes received the brunt of criticism for his team's failure to qualify for the Champions League the following campaign.

Moyes was sacked within the first year of his contract and went on to have spells at Real Sociedad, Sunderland and West Ham.

Now, West Ham are in third place in the Premier League, equal on points with reigning champions Manchester City. The Hammers have beaten Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Tottenham and Leicester this season.

John Giles

"I wouldn’t have sacked him in the first place. I don’t know if he's available and I doubt he would take it right at this moment.

"If I was there and making the decision I would bring Moyes back. I fully understand Man United fans wouldn’t like it.

"I know he would be absolutely hammered by the media and it would be difficult. It is really difficult to take over at Man United at the moment. But I don’t think there’s a more obvious Man United-type manager whos sitting out there right now.

"I think they’ll look abroad and see who’s doing the best. It's such a risk to take that job. It’s a massive risk"

Nevin also spoke about the problems that may hurt West Ham's chances of finishing in the Champions League places as the season progresses.

In the 11 games that have been played so far, Moyes has used just 15 players.

"There's decent players there. They're not gonna be at the top, though. He cant afford two or three injuries.

"Everyone goes to the London Stadium and knows it’s going to be a battle. But they need a bigger squad."
