Brazil star Neymar has been thrown out of the Copa America. The Barcelona player was given a four match ban after a disciplinary hearing. Neymar’s participation in the South American showpiece came to an abrupt end after a he headbutted Colombian opponent Jeison Murillo.
Brazil will have to complete the tournament without their Captain and arguably most important player. Their 23 year old Captain has already amassed 65 caps for the seleção and scored 44 goals in that time making him 5th in their all time top scoring list.
Neymar, who was also fined $10,000, can appeal the punishment. But unless the ban is reduced it means he has played his last game of the competition, with Brazil having at most four games left.
Colombian player Carlos Bacca, who shoved Neymar following his butt on goal scorer Jeison Murillo, was suspended for two games.
