One Evra-related anecdote just goes to show how young Man United's new signing is

As John Giles said on Off The Ball, the lack of forward options at Manchester United puts immediate pressure on new signing Anthony Martial.

The 19-year-old Frenchman became the Premier League's most expensive teenager when he signed from Monaco for an initial £36M on Deadline Day.

Martial started his career at Club Omnisports des Ulis back in 2001, which is the very same club which helped give Patrice Evra and Thierry Henry an introduction to the sport.

In some ways, Martial is following in Evra's footsteps by going to Man United, given that the latter also played for the Reds and Monaco.

And it seems, Evra who is still playing at the top level with Champions League runners-up Juventus, did inspire Martial in one way.

OC des Ulis' current coach Mahamadou Niakité told French radio station RMC that Martial once received Evra's boots as a gift from the club's former manager Tshimen Buhanga.

"Tshimen, once went to Manchester United and got hold of Patrice Evra’s boots, which he then gave to Anthony. Maybe they are a source of motivation. We hope he will now take the relay, and that he will, one day, give his shoes to one of the kids at Les Ulis," he said.
