Pat Nevin on potential upsides of Everton cashing in on Lukaku

Pat Nevin believes it wouldn't be the worst idea for Everton to cash in on Premier League top scorer Romelu Lukaku and sign two to three players to improve the team.

The 23 year old Belgian has scored 21 times in the league this season but has been criticised in the big games, struggling badly in Merseyside derby defeat to Liverpool on Saturday.

Only three of his league goals this season have come against any of the six sides currently above Everton in the table.

When asked by Off The Ball's Kevin Kilbane if he would sell Lukaku if he were in the shoes of the Everton board, Nevin replied: "Yeah, why not? I mean, they will say to you, 'Look at the goals. Where would we be without them?'

"But what you can actually replace that with, if you can manage to keep Koeman and he goes and buys and you trust his judgement - and his judgement has been fairly decent - I think you can buy two or three players in that can actually go and make that team a much better team."

Nevin also discussed the remark and apology made by Sunderland manager David Moyes towards BBC reporter Vicki Sparks.

The former Scotland winger also talked about Jose Mourinho's public criticism of his Manchester United left back Luke Shaw who is now way down the pecking order.
