Paul McGrath was the special guest at tonights Off the Ball roadshow at The Helix in Dublin.
The 83 time capped Irish international spoke to Ger on Joe on stage in The Helix, about his time at Dalkey United and Saint Patrick's Athletic before making the journey across the Irish Sea to join Manchester United.
McGrath spoke about his work ethic plying in Dalkey and Inchicore and how it helped him adjust to life at Old Trafford.
He spent his early career at United trying to break into the first team and spoke to Ger about trying to break his way into the team and initially feeling intimidated by Norman Whiteside and Bryan Robson.
His only honour at Old Trafford came in the 1985 FA Cup final, when United beat Everton 1-0. Kevin Moran was sent off in the game, and McGrath told the crowd that the sending off was his only memory of the game.
As part of the Ford Sporting Moments series on Off the Ball, McGrath also spoke about the Euro 92 qualifier in Wembley between England and Ireland.
The game finished 1-1, with McGrath excelling in central midfield.
He also spoke about that era when Ireland and England played in Euro 88 and Italia 90 and how the Irish side under Jack Charlton eventually gained the respect of England.
The Off the Ball Helix Roadshow was with thanks to Ford the official vehicle partner of the Irish football team, helping drive success both on and off the pitch. Ford go Further.
