Pedro "wants to go to Man United" and we've got an explanation for Rooney's rustiness

The Pedro to Manchester United rumours have been doing the rounds for a while, without any definitive resolution thus far.

So what's the hold-up? United We Stand editor Andy Mitten was on Off The Ball tonight to talk about how the club are shaping up in Louis van Gaal's second season in charge and he said there are plans for more incoming transfers and Barcelona and Spain's Pedro is expected to be one of those additions.

Touching on the Barcelona and Spain forward, he said: "Pedro, I was told a month ago, he wants to go. He wants to go to Manchester United and Barcelona will keep him until the Super Cup and nothing as far as I can see - and I speak to people at both ends - has changed in that time."

Mitten also suggested that Wayne Rooney's struggles in front of goal in the Premier League so far (which is only two games old in his defence) is partly down to a lack of service.

"The players around him are being played out of position. Mata's best position is in the hole [but] he's being played on the right. Depay was scoring his goals last year on the wing. He's being played inside in the hole, a significant distance behind Rooney and I think that shows. I think he's playing by himself. He's not getting service so what can he do?"
