Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has reportedly banned Cristiano Ronaldo from making weekly trips to Morocco as the Portuguese attacker's form has taken a significant dip this season.
Spanish newspaper El Espanol reported today that Perez has intervened on Ronaldo's regular trips to Marrakesh due to concerns over Ronaldo's form and the newspaper claim Perez is using his strong relationship with Morocco's king, Mohamed VI, as the source for monitoring his visits. Perez has asked the king to inform him when Ronaldo enters the country.
Ronaldo recently lost out on his bid to win the Ballon d'Or to arch rival Lionel Messi and Perez is concerned that Ronaldo has been nowhere near his best under Rafael Benitez or during Zinedine Zidane's short spell in charge thus far despite landing a brace against Sporting Gijon last weekend in Real's 5-1 victory.
Speculation continues to mount regarding the former Manchester United player's future after he was seen whispering in Laurent Blanc's ear and smiling after Real Madrid's clash with PSG in the Champions League this season.
It remains to be seen how Ronaldo responds to these latest claims that Perez is trying to curb his lavish lifestyle but it is becoming more apparent that a summer split is likely at this point.
