Former Manchester United and Manchester City goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel says it's difficult to concentrate on Wednesday's Europa League final after Monday's terrorist attack.
A total of 22 people lost their lives and a further 59 people were injured after a bomb was detonated outside Manchester Arena.
Speaking at the BMW Championship Pro-Am at Wentworth Golf Club today, Schmeichel offered his condolences to the families effected.
"It's been a terrible week," he told Sky Sports. "I'm really upset over what happened. I was there myself and I've seen how strong the Mancunian community is. I have to say, I'm proud to be part of that community.
"I've been in Manchester since 1991 and I've always loved the people of Manchester. If there's one thing I love it's how they all rallied together. People opened their doors, people were driving concert goers home."
The Danish goalkeeper, who won the Champions League with United in 1999, said it might be difficult for some of the players to focus when they take to the pitch in Stockholm.
"It's difficult to think about anything else. I know we've a big final tonight, but it's got no significance in the bigger picture.
"We can go win that final and play for all the families and friends who have lost loved ones. I'm convinced that is what they'll do."
Former United midfielder Paul Scholes also offered his condolences.
"It's such a devastating thing that has happened and when it's happened on your doorstep, it's that bit more upsetting," he said.
"All our thoughts are with the families. I truly believe we live in the best city in the world. The people are amazing and will get behind whatever needs to be done. They'll donate and do whatever they can that needs to be done."
