Pochettino bans players from attending the PFA awards night

Mauricio Pochettino has told journalists that his players will be “At home. At home. At home!” when the PFA awards are handed out on Sunday night.

His side take on West Brom on Monday Night Football in a game that could decide whether the Premier League title goes to London or Leicester when all is said and done on the 15th of May.

Harry Kane is nominated for the Player of the Year award at the ceremony and both Kane and 20-year-old sensation Dele Alli are nominated for the Young Player of the Year. Neither will be attending the event, however, as Pochettino believes staying at home is the best preparation for their game on Monday night.

He says, “But this is normal and all people can understand. It’s a shame but we play Monday.

“It’s true that the players would like to go but I think the responsibility when you have a big game for us like West Brom on Monday – you need to stay at home, rest and focus on the game. After the game on Monday, we have time for a party or to congratulate the players – for everything!”

Pochettino says Jamie Vardy's absence could have a big impact on Leicester and is hell-bent on ensuring his players remain focused on the task at hand on Monday night.
