Chelsea made it 10 league victories on the bounce this evening to stretch their lead at the top of the table to six points.
Antonio Conte's side beat Sunderland 1-0 at the Stadium of Light, Cesc Fabregas with the goal against a Black Cats side that featured seven defenders in their outfield line-up.
The win leaves them clear of joint second placed sides Arsenal and Liverpool, who also picked up a win tonight. Jurgen Klopp's side faced a potentially tricky fixture away to Middlesbrough, especially coming off their disappointing draw with West Ham over the weekend.
Adam Lallana opened the scoring after half an hour, getting on the end of Nathaniel Clyne's cross to turn the ball home. Divock Origi doubled their lead in the second-half after finishing a beautifully crafted team move to drive low past Victor Valdes.
The Belgian was then scorer turned provider and supplied a wonderful cross to be converted by Lallana on 69 minutes for his second of the game.

Tottenham kept Manchester United at arm's length this evening with a 3-0 victory at home to Hull City. Christian Eriksen scored in each half before Victor Wanyama struck late on to give the home side all three points.
Jose Mourinho's side, meanwhile, will feel that their luck is beginning to change after United were gifted an incredibly fortunate goal during their victory at Crystal Palace.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic chested the ball down from a freekick into the path of Paul Pogba, who looked suspiciously offside just outside the six-yard box, and the Frenchman was on hand to turn the ball home.
James McArthur drew Alan Pardew's side level on 68 minutes, a delightful flick from Damien Delaney set up McArthur who provided a cool left footed finish past David De Gea.
But Ibrahimovic prevented United from picking up a fourth 1-1 draw in their last five Premier League games by scoring in the dying minutes to give them back-to-back league wins.

Salomon Rondon became only the second player in Premier League history to score a hat-trick with his head, as West Brom beat Swansea City at the Hawthorns.
Rondon completed the feat in 13 second-half minutes to sink Bob Bradley's side and keep them firmly in the relegation zone. Wayne Routledge got Swansea's only goal of the game in a 3-1 defeat.
Pep Guardiola arrested Manchester City's run of bad form to beat Watford 2-0 at the Etihad Stadium. Coming off the back of consecutive league defeats to Chelsea and champions Leicester City, Pablo Zabaleta converted Kevin De Bruyne's cross to hand them victory.
David Silva scored on his 200th Premier League appearance to end a run of 23 games without a goal and wrap up the points for City.
Mark Noble missed only his second penalty in 16 attempts this evening, but was on hand to tuck away the rebound and hand West Ham a 1-0 victory at home to Burnley.
Marko Arnautovic received a first-half red card as Stoke played out a scoreless draw with Southampton.
