Premier League roundup: Chelsea beat Arsenal and West Ham stun Manchester City

It was a busy day in the Premier League, as Arsenal took on Chelsea and Manchester City looked to keep their flawless record going as they faced West Ham.

Chelsea 2-0 Arsenal

The talking point of this match was referee Mike Dean, who ended up showing two red cards to Arsenal players in the form of Gabriel and Santi Cazorla. Diego Costa was the centre of attention as he

Shortly afterwards, Kurt Zouma gave Chelsea the lead from a Cesc Fabregas free kick, while Hazard added another to seal the victory for Mourinho's men, relieving a bit of the pressure that had been building on the Portuguese in recent weeks.

Swansea 0-0 Everton

Two of the teams that have been incredibly exciting to watch in recent weeks failed to do much in this game as they played out a 0-0 draw. The first half was a very evenly matched affair, but it might be Robert Martinez who is happier with the point given that he saw second half substitute Kevin Mirallas sent off for a dangerous tackle just five minutes after being brought on.

Purists would have enjoyed a solid defensive display from both sides, but given that both teams have beaten big opposition already this season, we perhaps expected more from this tie.

Newcastle 1-2 Watford

Another loss for Newcastle, this time against Watford, might be a cause for concern for a side who were hoping to get back on track with a match against one of the newly promoted sides at home. Coming off the back of a loss to West Ham that manager Steve McClaren described as being like a car crash, this won't have lightened his mood any.

Two goals from Ighalo gave Watford the win, and while Daryl Janmaat pulled one back for the Magpies, it wasn't enough to mount a comeback, who now sit in the bottom three and are still without a win this season.

Stoke City 2-2 Leicester

Leicester came from behind once again to draw with Stoke in one of the more exciting games to kick off this afternoon, and are quickly making a name for themselves as the comeback kings.

Stoke's Bojan Krkic and Jon Walters gave the Potters a two goal lead, but in the second half Leicester showed their resilience, with two of their in form players grabbing goals in the form of Riyad Mahrez from the penalty spot and Jamie Vardy off a knock down from Leo Ulloa.

As exciting as it is for the neutral to watch, fans of Ranieri's side might hope that they get out of the habit of going behind and putting themselves under extra pressure.

Aston Villa 0-1 West Brom

Another defeat for Tim Sherwood won't help his cause at Aston Villa, where they now only have one win so far this season. However, Saido Berahino might have gotten himself back in the good books with West Brom supporters as his goal gave their side the win.

Just a few weeks after he tweeted that he'd never play for the club again, the young striker was on target with the decisive goal late in the first half, but Villa were perhaps a bit unlucky, having a goal ruled out after Micah Richards had the ball in the net, but the referee had called play back for a foul on Jack Grealish.

Bournemouth 2-0 Sunderland

It was another good day at the office from Callum Wilson, who slotted home a goal in Bournemouth's win over Sunderland. However, the pick of the goals from the match (and an early contender for goal of the season) was Matt Richie's stunning volley that was somewhat reminiscent of a certain Tony Yeboah.

Dick Advocaat's side must once again be wondering about their fate in this year's league, and while they have shown some hints of life here and there, they have shown that they have an absolutely terrible performance in them too from time to time.

Manchester City 1-2 West Ham

While the tag of biggest upset of the day will go to the Japanese rugby team for their incredible win, West Ham's win against Manchester City at the Etihad didn't seem like a very likely outcome either.

City have been dominant in the Premier League to date, but it appears as thought their midweek loss in the Champions League to Juventus might have dented their confidence a little.

They fell behind to two goals from Victor Moses and Diafra Sakho, hey lacked a little bit of a killer edge in the match, and whole new signing Kevin de Bruyne scored, they simply couldn't get past West Ham's Adrian to pull back the deficit.

West Ham were worth their victory in the end however, and now have away wins against Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City to their name so far. Their home form has been significantly worse, but there's no doubting that Slaven Bilic has managed to get fantastic performances out of his players on the big occasions.
