Premier League Round-Up: Manchester United drop first points of the season

Manchester United and Newcastle played out a relatively straightforward scoreless draw in the early kick-off at Old Trafford before the 3 o'clock games provided us with plenty of action to make up for it.

Bastian Schweinsteiger made his first start for United since his summer move from Bayern Munich but he could not provide the spark to push Wayne Rooney towards his first Premier League goal of the season and their third win in three attempts to start the year.

Rooney did have the ball in the back of the net but it was ruled out, and replays showed incorrectly, for offside. United peppered Newcastle's goal in the second half with attempts but they could not beat Tim Krul in the Magpies' goal.

Bournemouth's Callum Wilson landed a hat-trick as Eddie Howe's side picked up their first three points of the season. Wilson had landed two before a half an hour but West Ham brought it back level after half-time with goals from Mark Noble and Cheikhou Kouyate.

Marc Pugh put Bournemouth ahead again before Wilson converted a penalty to land his hat-trick. Carl Jenkinson was sent off for the hammers before Modibo Maiga scored to make for an interesting final ten minutes. Bournemouth were not to be broken though and they now have three points after three games.

Crystal Palace had a debutante win all three points for them when Bakary Sako scored in the 87th minute to seal a 2-1 victory for Alan Pardew's men. Another debutante Adam Traore also had a big say in Villa's goal as he twisted and turned before firing against Pape Souare, who was credited with an own goal.

Elsewhere, there were three 1-1 draws.

Spurs' Dele Alli marked his debut with a goal before Riyad Mahrez equalised to draw Claudio Ranieri's men level. Mauricio Pochettino's men are yet to record their first win despite leading in the second half of their last two games.

Stoke's Mame Biram Diouf put Stoke 1-0 up with thanks to an assist from debutante Xherdan Shaqiri but Russell Martin levelled and that was how the game would finish.

Bafeembi Gomis landed his third goal in three games to put Swansea ahead but Premier League old-boy Jermain Defoe pulled dick Advocaat's man level.
