"We really hope he stays" - Shane Duffy on Lewis Dunk transfer

Shane Duffy has told Off The Ball how he hopes that the "Dunk'n'Duffy" partnership stays together this season, as Brighton's Lewis Dunk continues to be linked with a move to Leicester City.

Speaking to Nathan Murphy in an exclusive interview, Duffy opened up about his relationship with Dunk that has helped to secure Premier League safety for the Seagulls for two successive seasons.

Leicester City are rumoured to continue their interest in Dunk following Harry Maguire's world-record transfer for Manchester United, due to be confirmed shortly.

"I'd be too fat then, I'd be eating all the donuts!" said Duffy of their potential Dunk'N'Duffy business venture.

"[Dunk] is one of my closest friends here, and that helps when we step out onto the pitch together.

"It's a bit of a cliché, but that's football. If you're a good player, then you're going to get linked around.

"I can say that he has been very confident about this season being here. He's club captain now, and he's from Brighton. It's a big deal for him.

"Anything can happen, but all of the lads are hoping that he stays and that it is not over yet for me and him!"

Shane also spoke about the difference between himself and his team-mate in their respective Fantasy Premier League scores, with the surprise admission that he would pick Dunk over himself, who is rated as £500,000 cheaper than Duffy.

"He's going in my team as well - I'm keeping that £0.5m for a striker!

"He's got it in his locker to score five or more goals this year, so I think he's a good signing!"

Off The Ball will broadcast a feature interview with Shane Duffy in the coming weeks, in association with the Irish Blood Transfusion Board.

Duffy will talk about the horrific injury he suffered in 2010 and the importance of blood donation, check out www.giveblood.ie.
