Round-Up: Manchester clubs turn English fortunes in Europe

Manchester United and Manchester City both had to come from behind to pick up their first wins in the Champions League this season.

Louis van Gaal's men were the ones smiling as they made it four consecutive wins in all competitions and this latest victory has come at just the right time, facing into a crunch clash with Arsenal in the Premier League.

Daniel Caligiuri gave visitors Wolfsburg the lead after just four minutes after some desperate defending allowed Claugiuri to fire into the roof of the net.

Credit to the United though, who pushed higher up the pitch and on 34 minutes Juan Mata continued his remarkable form in front of goal converting a penalty.

Chris Smalling rounded off the scoring on 53 minutes and gave his side their first three points in Europe this campaign.

Elsewhere Manchester City were slightly more fortunate to claim all the points away to Borussia Moenchengladbach.

Raffael missed a penalty for the German side in the second half, but on 54 minutes, Lars Stindl made amends and gave the home side the lead.

But just ten minutes later, the ball was fizzed around the box and Andreas Christensen turned the ball into his own net.

When it looked as though both sides would have to share the spoils, Sergio Aguero scored from the spot in the dying seconds to give City a must needed European win.

Elsewhere in Group D, Juventus cruised to a comfortable 2-0 victory over Spanish side Sevilla.

In Group C, Kazakh minnows FC Astana earned their first points in European football as they needed a late goal to draw 2-2 with Turkish side Galatasaray.

Benfica came from a goal down to beat Atletico Madrid 2-1 in the groups other game.

Manchester United's main rivals in Group B, CSKA Moskow, continued their perfect start as they beat PSV Eindhoven 3-2.

In Group A, Real Madrid made short work of Norwegian side 2-0, a Ronaldo brace the difference between the sides.

Meanwhile in that group, PSG beat Shaktar Donetsk 3-0 away from home.
