Roy Hodgson speaks frankly about the appeal of adding Jamie Vardy to the English squad

England boss Roy Hodgson has admitted that adding Jamie Vardy to his squad ahead of Euro 2016, is becoming more and more tempting.

The Leicester striker set an unprecedented record this season by scoring 14 Premier League goals in successive games before Christmas, thus bypassing Ruud Van Nistlerooy's achievement of netting 10 consecutive times for Manchester United. Vardy's goal devouring form has guided Leicester to the top of the Premier League table for the first time in 15 years.

Considering that he was playing non-league football four years ago, Vardy's meteoric climb to prominence is all the more noteworthy. And just like everybody else, Roy Hodgson continues to marvel at his feats.

Vardy has only represented England on three occasions, but Hodgson is now saying that the 28 year-old has evolved into a 'strong contender' for a place on the England panel.

Speaking ahead of the anticipated Euro 2016 draw coming up this evening, Hodgson said:

'He won't score in every game between now and when I select a team for the Euros. But what he can do is continue to be Jamie Vardy, playing in the way Jamie Vardy does. It has been a remarkable rise and a remarkable success story and we can only hope he can keep his form up'
