'Sanchez and Coquelin have really taken the team forward'

Arsenal recorded the highest victory in an FA Cup final since 1994 this evening when they defeated Aston Villa 4-0 in Wembley. Theo Walcott, Alexis Sanchez, Per Mertesacker and Olivier Giroud were on the scoresheet for Arsene Wenger's side.

Former Ireland international Kenny Cunningham spoke to Newstalk Sport's Daniel Kelly post match to look back on the game.

Cunningham was impressed by Arsenal's intensity from the opening whistle, after questioning earlier on Off the Ball whether the side would be able to dominate. He stated that the side "need to that going forward, if they are going to challenge for the title next season."

The arrival of Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona last summer and Francis Coquelin's excellent season have been crucial to Arsenal's improvement this season. He thinks the quality of the two stars "have taken the team forward"

A couple of additions are still needed to strengthen the squad if Arsenal are to win the league next season, with Kenny saying that a new striker and centre half are needed. Mertesaker's "lack of mobility" can be exploited by stronger teams.

Arsene Wenger has won a sixth FA Cup title today and Cunningham thinks the Frenchman has done an excellent job during Arsenal's transition from Highbury to the Emirates Stadium. He thinks Wenger may walk away from Arsenal with a "wry smile on his face" if the side win a Premier League or European Cup in the near future.
