Jadon Sancho jets off for Dortmund pre-season training camp

Manchester United transfer hopeful Jadon Sancho has been included in Borussia Dortmund's pre-season training squad despite continued interest at Old Trafford.

The English winger, who is valued by his club at £108 million has travelled with the Dortmund squad for their pre-season training camp in the Swiss spa town of Bad Ragaz.

Dortmund have previously indicated they want a deal completed by the time they headed out for that camp to give them sufficient time to purchase a replacement.

United are hoping to make 20-year-old Sancho their marquee signing this summer, but the two clubs have so far been unable to agree on their value of the player.

Manchester United said they are also unwilling to break their wage structure for the 20-year-old following the unsuccessful transfer of Alexis Sanchez, and as it stands no fee or personal terms have been agreed.

Sancho joined Dortmund in August 2017 from United's rivals Manchester City and has since been called into the England squad and becoming a regular under Gareth Southgate.

The Red Devils have completed 'bigmoney' moves for Harry Maguire and Bruno Fernandes in the last two transfer windows but feel the environment for deals has shifted since the coronavirus pandemic.

Off The Ball’s Phil Egan said that while this deal may have ended for this transfer window it could very much re-open in the next one.

“Today was the day that Dortmund were going on their tour and they wanted the cash before that, or he goes with them. The point being is they don’t want their pre-season halted to let Sancho go off and talk to Manchester United.

“We knew United weren’t going to get this deal done soon because they never do. It’s hard to know what happens now.

“I don’t know if this deal is finished. It might be for this window, but then you have the next window.

“Dortmund are very well organised because they have probably identified a few players that they would bring in to replace Sancho, but if the money is coming in then Dortmund don’t need to replace him.

“That’s great for Dortmund because they will need Sancho on their team if they’re going to beat Bayern Munich for a Bundesliga title.”
