Mayo made their way into the All-Ireland semi final having beaten Donegal by eight points in Croke Park yesterday.
While the headlines will centre around Mayo dismantling the ever defensive Donegal, debate still rages on over whether Lee Keegan meant to score such a cracker of a goal or if he badly mishit an effort for a point.
Keegan scored 1-2 and won the Man of the Match award to boot. He also told interviewers after the game that he was most certainly going for the goal.
As you can see from the video, Paul Durcan was well positioned and was caught off guard by the marauding Keegan and for this reason alone, we will forever be in doubt but the quality of the finish and the end result is not in doubt. The Mayo wing back could not have got a better dip on the ball as he left the Donegal goalkeeper swiping at thin air.
With the Premier League transfer window still open, Mayo management might be fielding some calls as to whether Keegan is available for a reasonable fee. If he meant it, that is, of course!
