Seamus Coleman declared fit to play on his birthday

After another miserable week of nursing a troublesome hamstring injury, Seamus Coleman has been declared fit for selection ahead of Ireland's crunch tie against Poland tonight in Warsaw. What makes the revelation even more amazing is that it neatly coincides with his 27th birthday.

The positive news that Coleman was looking likely to be available for the game in Warsaw began filtering through over the weekend. And after missing out on Ireland's historic win over Germany, the rumours have been confirmed that Coleman can play, making it the ideal birthday present for the Everton defender.

Martin O'Neill wanted to afford Coleman every chance of proving his fitness ahead of the Germany game after a three week absence from competitive action. But when the Toffes man didn't make the bench for the Merseyside clash with Liverpool, the outlook was already appearing bleak for Coleman.

His much anticipated recovery has been heightened all the more by the return of Marc Wilson who is also fully fit for the Poland game tonight.
