Seamus Coleman on Wales: "It's a massive game for us"

Seamus Coleman spoke to Off the Ball's Dave McIntyre after his Everton side lost 3-2 to Tottenham on Sunday.

Looking back at the loss, he said: "We were nowhere near good enough in the first half. Obviously, Kane got a great goal which gave them the lead. In the second half I think we were a bit better. I think we really gave them two goals in the second half and against a top team you never get away with that."

Speaking of his own difficulties in dealing with their style of play, the Irish international said: "That's the way they play with their wing backs. We didn't find a way to deal with it in the first half. Maybe second half we had a bit more joy. We can't really have many complaints."

"Unfortunately sometimes it [the game plane] doesn't work. For whatever reason it didn't. We knew coming down here that these are a top side. It was going to be a real test and our first real test in a little while. Unfortunately we don't leave with anything but we've got to kick on now and go to West Brom.

"Confidence is high but it's important not to dwell on today. We're disappointed that we probably didn't play as well as we should have but we've got to go again. West Brom is a massive game for us," he added.

Looking ahead to the crucial world cup qualifier against Wales, Coleman said: "Yeah, looking forward to it. It's a massive game for us. Things have been going very well so far in this campaign and we're looking to build on that. Wales are coming to our home patch so we've got to make it difficult. It will be a tough game but a game we belive we'll win."
