Sean Dyche: “I don’t want to play like Barcelona”

Burnley manager Sean Dyche says he doesn’t want his team to play the same style as La Liga giants Barcelona.

The Burnley manager is not interested in how his side plays. The Kettering man says it’s about integrating a mixed style of play so his side can adapt against versatile opposition.

The performance is very much a secondary issue in Dyches' eyes. He says he'd consistently rather see his team grind out wins than play a style that warrants praise and not results.

Sean Dyche was speaking on OTB's Keith Andrews show earlier this afternoon.

“I don’t want to play like Barcelona. I want to play mixed football. I want to play football that can win football matches, in any way. If you have to grind out, you can grind out. “

The 47-year-old admits it would be a bonus if his side played a wonderful brand of football.

“If you can pass out of it and score great goals, then fantastic but I want a team that can win in any style it wants to win.”

The former Chesterfield player’s team currently stand 7th in the Premier league table. It would be the clubs best finish since the introduction of the competition back in 92/93 season.

Dyche believes his Burnley team have improved their style but he’s ultimately concerned about the manner his team adapts against their opposition.

“We are getting there, we are not the real deal by the way but we are improving. I believe.”
