Former Republic of Ireland winger Damien Duff will play for a League of Ireland club at some point in the near future.
But for now, it's the destination that has been causing feverish speculation and Shamrock Rovers is one side who have been heavily linked with him.
Rovers manager Pat Fenlon was on Off The Ball tonight and he hinted that a deal could be done.
"We spoke to Damien and we had a good chat with him and we sort of parked it because he was doing his coaching badges and we were involved in a European game. Obviously, we've progressed in that as well so I'm sure we will speak again over the next few days. So we'll see where it gets but I've said it before, I think any club would be mad if they didn't want Damien Duff in their squad and that's something we would be interested in," he said.
Fenlon also reacted to Rovers' impressive Europa League qualifying win over opponents from Luxembourg last night, and giving his take on recent managerial departures domestically, he wants managers to get more respect from owners and chairmen.
