Stephen Kenny expects more Dundalk departures before next season

Dundalk manager Stephen Kenny admits that he is expecting more of the team's players to leave ahead of the 2017 season.

The Louth club have won the last three SSE Airtricity League Premier Division titles and also made history by reaching the Europa League group stages where they also managed to beat Maccabi Tel Aviv in the first victory for an Irish club at that level of competition.

Winger Daryl Horgan and defender Andy Boyle left the club for English championship side Preston North End this month.

And more could follow. Kenny told The Dundalk Democrat that some players could follow Boyle and Horgan to English football or even within the League of Ireland.

“We're in negotiations with a few players but it's a very strong possibility that we'll lose players to other clubs, maybe in the UK and the League of Ireland. It's something we'll have to contend with,” said Kenny.

He also added that: “Success can change people. People start thinking about their jobs and their life outside of football and they start to look at other factors".
