Afternoon kick-off results

Burnley 0 - 1 Liverpool

Crystal Palace 1 - 3 Southampton

Everton 0 - 1 Stoke

Leicester 1 - 2 Tottenham

Manchester United 3 - 1 Newcastle

Sunderland 1 - 3 Hull

Swansea 1 - 0 Aston Villa

West Brom 1 - 3 Manchester City

West Brom 1 - 3 Man City

Manchester City have returned to within three points of Chelsea at the top of the Barclays Premier League table following a 3 - 1 win at West Brom.

Amid snow at the Hawthorns, Fernando gave City the lead with 10 minutes, before Yaya Toure doubled that lead from the penalty spot after a foul on David Silva.

The Spain international added a third on 34 minutes to wrap up victory before half-time.

Baggies striker Brown Ideye pulled one back three minutes from time.

Man United 3 - 1 Newcastle

After last weekend's draw at Aston Villa, Manchester United got back to winning ways at home to Newcastle.

A first half double from Wayne Rooney set the Reds on the way to victory, before the club captain teed up Robin van Persie to head home shortly after half-time against a Newcastle side which had lost their last three matches in all competitions.

Papiss Cisse scored the Magpies' only goal of the game from the spot late on as Man United cemented their hold of third place.

Burnley 0 - 1 Liverpool

Liverpool's slight upturn in  form continued with a narrow win at Burnley.

Raheem Sterling's sixth goal of the season gave them all three points, but the Clarets had chances through Danny Ings, who struck the post, and Scott Arfield.

Simon Mignolet also returned to the Liverpool goal on the quarter hour mark after an injury to current custodian Brad Jones.

Elsewhere, a Bojan Krkic penalty for Stoke condemned Liverpool's neighbours Everton to a home defeat which leaves the Toffees down in 12th.

Tottenham enjoyed another narrow away win with goals from the in-form Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen overcoming Leicester.

Swansea also beat Aston Villa 1 - 0, Sunderland were beaten 3 - 1 at home to Hull and Southampton rose to fourth after a 3 - 1 victory at Crystal Palace.
