Stuart Pearce comes out of retirement to sign for Longford AFC

It's been well over a decade since Stuart Pearce retired from football, but the former England defender has decided to put on his boots again to sign for Longford AFC - definitely not the League of Ireland club.

Longford AFC from Gloucestershire, UK, have lost all 18 of their league games this season to earn the tag of "worst team in the UK".

The Gloucestershire Northern Senior League Division Two side have also conceded a whopping 183 goals along the way, in front of average crowds of half a dozen fans.

Which is where the man known as "Psycho" comes in. Due to his non-league roots, the former England, Nottingham Forest and West Ham left-back has chosen to give the club a helping hand out of their predicament.

"I’m looking forward to working with manager Nick Dawe and to helping a group of talented young footballers achieve their dreams and, hopefully transform both the dressing room confidence and the on-pitch performance," said the 53-year-old, who has spent much of the last 14 years, managing the likes of Manchester City, Nottingham Forest and the England U21s.
