Daniel Sturridge terminates contract with Turkish side Trabzonspor

Former Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge is a free agent after mutually terminating his contract at Turkish side Trabzonspor.

The 30-yeard old has only been at the club, who sit top of the Super Lig table, since August of last year after being released by Liverpool.

Sturridge spent six-and-a-half years on Merseyside, scoring 60 goals in 160 appearances and he picked up a Champions League medal in May of last year when Jurgen Klopp's side beat Tottenham in the final in Madrid.

His last appearance for the Reds was as a late substitute in their 4-0 semi-final win over Barcelona at Anfield.

Klopp described him as a"remarkable" player when his time at the club came to an end.

He then signed a three-year contract with Trabzonspor.

He scored seven goals in 16 appearances for the Turkish side.

His final game was on February 22 in a 2-2 draw with Besiktas.

The former Manchester City and Chelsea forward is unable to sign for another club until the transfer window reopens, meaning he is now a free agent until the summer.

The window officially reopens on 1st July and it's believed his agent will try and set up a deal before then so it can be sealed as quickly as possible.

Aston Villa were linked with a move for Sturridge in January of this year, but a move to the MLS is now being suggested for the England international.
