What goes up, must come down...
That concept is not an established fact in sport in the short term as what stays up can sometimes keep going higher and higher.
For Leicester City however, they are fast achieving something that has not been done since Manchester City in 1937-38.
At their current rate they will match that unwanted City feat of being relegated from the English top flight as reigning league champions.
Sunday's loss to Swansea was their fifth on the trot and Claudio Ranieri's side were poor, with Riyad Mahrez, Jamie Vardy and co again failing to recapture the fight and magic of the never-to-be-forgotten 2015-16 season.
That is a real worry for the Foxes as one point now separates them from Hull City who occupy the last relegation place.
Up next for Leicester after the upcoming FA Cup weekend is a home fixture against a Liverpool side who got back on track on Saturday by beating Tottenham.
Given their predicament, Leicester would have to come forward which would play into the hands of Jurgen Klopp's counter attacking side.
After that, it's another relegation six pointer at home against Hull City who have improved markedly under Marco Silva. After that are away trips to Arsenal and West Ham. In between those fixtures, there is the distraction and draws of a Champions League tie against an excellent Sevilla side.
On paper, a painful few weeks await in which Leicester could find themselves in very real trouble in the bottom three. Of course, nothing is played out on paper but given the way they are playing, Leicester need a spark.
And with question marks over Claudio Ranieri growing, perhaps a new manager could be what awaits sooner rather than later. If Ranieri were to depart and Leicester were to go down within a year of winning a historic and improbable Premier League title, then the Jamie Vardy movie that's in the pipeline will have an unmissable sequel.
Clement showing his skill
Paul Clement has gained a reputation as an astute and highly regarded assistant manager at some of Europe's most glamorous clubs including Paris Saint Germain, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich but Derby County aside, he has had little opportunity to prove his worth as a No 1.
Slowly but surely however, he has coaxed improved performances from a Swansea side that appeared to be heading for relegation.
But they now sit 15th and with a real chance of fighting their way towards next season's Premier League.
Swansea haven't had an easy run on paper either but Clement has guided them to an away win at Liverpool, a home win over Southampton and within mere minutes of a draw at Manchester City.
Then Leicester came to town in need of a win yet it was Swansea who performed best and secured the result.
Robbie Brady gets to show his stuff on a bigger stage
The Championship provides a good staging ground for many Irish players as proven on Saturday as Daryl Horgan, Wes Hoolahan and Aiden McGeady all shone.
But the Premier League is the be all and end all in England and Ireland's Robbie Brady now has that opportunity to show his worth in a brighter spotlight.
There is no bigger spotlight than when the runaway Premier League leaders Chelsea come to Burnley. Yet the new January arrival grasped his opportunity with a brilliant free kick to earn his new side a draw against the Blues and presumably take the set piece duties off team-mate Joey Barton with the latter's blessing.
Hopefully, more of the same is to come especially as crucial 2018 World Cup qualifiers approach for Ireland.
