Sunday night takeaway: Liverpool held at Anfield while Spurs and Chelsea progress

Liverpool were frustrated at home against Plymouth Argyle while there were routine home wins for Spurs and Chelsea in Sunday's FA Cup matches.

Liverpool fielded the youngest ever side in the club's history but they were held to a draw as Plymouth kept the home side at bay.

The Reds had over 80% possession in the game but were unable to break the visitors down and had a Divock Origi goal disallowed for an earlier foul.

Jurgen Klopp sprung Daniel Sturridge, Adam Lallana and Roberto Firmino from the bench in a bid to avoid a replay but they made little difference and the two sides must do it again.

Tottenham entertained Aston Villa at White Hart Lane. The less said about the first half the better as Villa parked the bus. At one stage there were 21 players in the Villa half.

Spurs eventually opened the scoring after the introduction of Dele Alli in the second half. Ben Davies broke the deadlock with a glancing header before Son Heung-min sealed the win after good work from Kieran Trippier and Moussa Sissoko down the right wing.

John Terry was sent off as Chelsea booked their place in the next round with a 4-1 win over Peterborough.

Goals from Pedro (x2), Michy Batshuayi and Willian were enough for the Londoners. Tom Nichols pulled one back for the visitors.

Elsewhere, Middlesbrough beat Sheffield Wednesday 3-0 with goals from Grant Leadbitter, Alvaro Negredo and Marten de Roon.

Fulham also progressed after beating Cardiff 2-1 thanks to goals from Stefan Johansen and Ryan Sessegnon. Ireland's Anthony Pilkington had given the Welsh side the lead but they were unable to hold on.

The fourth round draw takes place on Monday.
