Tata Martino set to quit as Argentina manager

It has been a tumultuous 24 hours in Argentine football after they lost the Copa America Centenario final in a penalty shootout against Chile.

Speaking after the game, Lionel Messi stated that he was bringing an end to his time with the national team, and would not be turning out in the blue and white of Argentina again

On Monday night, manager Tata Martino, who worked with the superstar at Barcelona, has apparently taken the decision to follow him out the door.

They too have had an eventful day, after a bomb threat was phoned in on their Buenos Aires headquarters, before confusion reigned over whether or not interim leader Luis Segura had actually resigned

Martino has not yet officially informed the association of his resignation, but according to AS Colombia, Martino announced his decision to quit to his backroom team before he had learned of Messi's decision to leave as well.

However, the AFA tweeted that the manager would be back at work next Monday with the Under 23s (after originally deleting a tweet that mistakenly said the U20s) as they prepare to appear at the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro later this summer.
