The Danish view: We wanted Northern Ireland

Ireland learned today that a playoff with Denmark stands between the Boys in Green and qualification for next summer's World Cup.

While many Irish fans were hoping to draw the Danes, journalist Morten Crone Sejersbøl joined Off The Ball tonight to discuss the Danish reaction to the draw. "We were not satisfied nor afraid," he told Adrian Barry, adding that fans were hoping to pull Northern Ireland from the draw and to avoid Sweden.

He described the national team's style of play as "direct," but noted that at times players can look "confused" and that the manager has stumbled upon what seems to be a winning formula based on playing long passes and working breaking balls to Christian Eriksen.

The Tottenham-man is the team's key threat and manager Lars "Lasse" Lagerbäck has publically stated that he builds his tactics around the midfielder who has scored 12 goals in the country's past 13 matches.

Elsewhere in the draw, Northern Ireland have been drawn against Switzerland, while Italy take on Sweden and Croatia are facing Greece in November's playoff ties for a place in the World Cup next summer.
