The Final Whistle: Ireland triumph in World Cup warm-up

BOXING

It's been a golden day for Ireland at the European Elite Boxing Championships.

Westmeath's Joe Ward has beaten Peter Mullenberg of the Netherlands to claim gold in the light-heavyweight decision.

Earlier, Michael Conlan won gold in the bantamweight division with a unanimous decision victory over Britain's Qais Ashfaq.

RUGBY

Ireland's latest World Cup warm-up has proved a far tighter affair than last week's defeat of Wales.

Chris Henry, Sean Cronin, Simon Zebo and Luke Fitzgerald each crossed the whitewash for Joe Schmidt's side, but they conceded three Scottish tries in a 28-22 win at the Aviva.

SOCCER

In the Premier League today, Tottenham threw away a two-goal lead at home to Stoke to draw 2-2.

Bafetimbi Gomis and Andre Ayew were yet again on target for Swansea in a 2-0 victory at home to ten-man Newcastle.

Leicester's fine start to the season continued with a 2-1 win at West Ham.

Wes Hoolahan pulled the strings for Norwich in their 3-1 win at Sunderland.

While Watford and West Brom played out a scoreless draw at Vicarage Road.

Earlier, two first half strikes from Romelu Lukaku helped Everton to a 3-0 win at Southampton.

GOLF

Rory McIlroy's third round is underway at the PGA Championship - he remains 2-under par.

The world number one is some way adrift of leader Matt Jones - with the Aussie topping the leaderboard on 11-under par.

GAELIC GAMES

Galway are through to the All Ireland Camogie final.

The beat Wexford 1-14 to 2-10 at Nowlan Park.

Kerry won through to a TG4 All Ireland Ladies Football semi final with a 2-13 to 1-8 win over Mayo at the Gaelic Grounds.

In the second game in Limerick, a short time ago Cork led Galway 1-6 to 0-2, with the winners to face Kerry in the last four.
