"The Irish team does not have too many leaders on the pitch and that is a huge area of concern"

Former Ireland defender Paddy Mulligan is concerned by a lack of leaders on the pitch ahead of the Euro 2016 playoff first leg against Bosnia on Friday night.

Speaking to Oisin Langan and I on the Rewind podcast ahead of a game in which Ireland will be missing captain John O'Shea and Stoke forward Jon Walters, Paddy zoned in on the issue of leadership.

"I always think that there should be lots of leaders on the pitch. Now, right at the moment, we don't have too many leaders. The Irish team does not have too many leaders on the pitch and that is a huge area of concern for me. Always has been, always will be until people stand up and be counted," he said.

"Lads can play against the Gibraltars of this world and 'ah, they look great, they're on the ball all the time'. The time you need to be on the ball is in the big games against the Poland teams of this world and definitely against Bosnia. Nobody can shirk any responsibility.

"The one star player that we have in my eyes would be Seamus Coleman but then he's a full-back, so he's limited as to the influence that he can have on the game."
