The Midweek In Numbers: Aguero and Carroll on the radar

The weekend's action left just about enough chance that we might yet get a Premier League title race after all with Chelsea's defeat to Crystal Palace allowing Tottenham to close the gap to seven points with nine games to go.

The race is tight elsewhere for the Top Four and in the relegation battle and the action on Wednesday will crystalise the futures of the teams involved.

Chelsea vs Manchester City : Aguero tends to thrive

The teams that have reason to fear Sergio Aguero most are Newcastle and Tottenham. A full 21 of his goals have come against those two teams, with Newcastle conceding 11 and Spurs giving away 10.

But the next team on the list that has suffered most at the hands of the Manchester City striker are Wednesday night opponents Chelsea.

Across 14 fixtures, Aguero has scored nine times against the other Blues. His best night against them came at Stamford Bridge in April 2016 when he scored a hat-trick at Stamford Bridge in a 3-0 win.

Arsenal vs West Ham: Andy Carroll's time to shine

Andy Carroll won't like the fact that Sergio Aguero has punished his hometown Newcastle United so often. But Arsenal does tend to make the striker smile.

With his physicality and height, he has been built to trouble the likes of Arsenal - and trouble them he has.

Only Swansea City have conceded more Andy Carroll goals than Arsenal, with the Welsh club letting in six goals in nine fixtures.

But Arsenal are joint second on the Carroll hit-list of goals with five in 10 fixtures. Manchester City and West Brom have also seen Carroll score five goals against them but that has been across 16 games apiece, which makes his rate against Arsenal more potent.
