United slap £50M pricetag on De Gea

Manchester United are aiming to fend off potential suitors for David De Gea by offering him £200,000-a-week over five years to stay at Old Trafford, according to reports.

The 24-year-old has been heavily linked as a potential long-term replacement for Real Madrid's veteran goalie Iker Casillas, but this morning the Daily Express are suggesting that United will splash the cash to keep him.

Madrid-born De Gea spent his early career at Real's crosstown rivals Atletico, but that's said not to be an obstacle to any future move.

The Spaniard signed from Atleti in 2011 for £18.6M - a British-record fee for a goalkeeper.
