Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal says he has no intention of selling Darren Fletcher, but admits the matter may be taken out of his hands.
The midfielder, who battled ulcerative colitis prior to his return to on-pitch action, has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford in the current transfer window.
While Van Gaal insists he remains an important player in his squad, he hinted that a deal for one his vice-captains may happen.
"Because it’s the transfer month, so you never know," he said.
"Darren Fletcher is the only player who has won the FA Cup in my selection and he is also captain - one of the three. That is the update I can give."
