Van Gaal expects Real Madrid to leave Man United in peace on the De Gea front

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal does not expect Real Madrid to revive their pursuit of David de Gea during this transfer window.

The Spanish club have been repeatedly linked with the goalkeeper, and came close to signing him on the last summer transfer deadline day, only to see the move fall through amid recriminations between both clubs.

The recent news of an impending transfer ban against them has sparked suggestions that they could renew their interest before the end of the month.

As things stand, Madrid cannot sign players in the summer 2016 or winter 2017 after FIFA ruled that they, along with city rivals Atletico, have broken rules in bringing in minors.

Real Madrid are due to appeal the ruling, similarly to Barcelona, who did have a transfer ban imposed for the January and summer 2015 windows.

But van Gaal says that there has been no sign of another bid for his player and he doesn't expect the 25-year-old to leave Old Trafford any time soon.

"I don’t know, because I don’t think that kind of thing plays in the mind of David De Gea. I have never thought that. Now I am seeing a De Gea who is enjoying to stay here at Manchester United and play good games," he said.
